ZAGG acquired Mophie for $ 100 million

Several large acquisitions have taken place in the mobile market today - in addition to the SwiftKey takeover by Microsoft, ZAGG bought Mophie, specializing in the production of accessories with additional batteries, as well as having increased protection. The amount of the transaction amounted to $ 100 million, taking into account possible adjustments after the announcement of the company's profits in the period from April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. As a result of the takeover, the company's total profit for 2015 was approximately $ 470 million.

In a statement, the head of ZAGG, Randy Hales, noted the positive impact of this transaction on the development of companies in the near future, opening up many opportunities. As part of the takeover of CEO Mophie, Daniel Juan, along with COO, Sean Dougherty will continue to fulfill his responsibilities, reporting directly to Randy Heiles.

“We are teaming up with a group of talented people. We believe that in the near future we will have a lot of interesting things and we are moving in the right direction, ”said Hales.

Along with the JuicePack batteries, Mophie's portfolio contains more than 140 patents in the United States and other countries. Well-established work with retailers around the world is likewise a serious advantage for a company that sells accessories. Having experience in several directions at once will allow ZAGG to increase the influence on the market of several types of accessories - from batteries to cases.
