Why docker doesn't always work

More recently, we looked at various aspects of the operation of container technology that have become significant trends in the field of virtualization. Any tool has its pros and cons, and today we decided to take a look at Docker's criticism .

Engineer Nick Barrett (Nick Barret) shares the opinion of a person who has spent quite a lot of time working with Docker. He is convinced that this tool is an excellent solution for those who need flexibility in scaling and rapid deployment of applications.

On the other hand, it is critical of trying to use Docker at every opportunity. For illustration, he cites the situation with the launch of the image store (Docker Registry) on Docker (v2). This task can be solved using the Dockerfile script and the Docker image.

The alternative is datastores, but these environments require their configuration files, which makes the Dockerfile itself relatively useless. For this, pyinfra, for example, is well suited, which automates the deployment of an application without installing anything extra. Sometimes you just need to not bother with the deployment of clusters using third-party weaving and Docker containers.
