Tom Enders, executive director of Airbus Group SE, said that Europe’s largest aerospace engineering corporation will provide its helicopters to Uber Technologies Inc. for air transportation. According
to the Wall Street Journal, this statement was made by Enders on Sunday at the International Digital Life Design conference, organized in Munich (Germany).
“This project is based on pilots, let's see what all this will lead to - but now it looks promising,” says Tom Enders. He also said that the project will be launched at the annual national film festival of independent film Senders this week, which is traditionally held in Park City (Utah, USA) in late January. Airbus currently does not disclose financial details of the agreement with Uber.
Uber, which was launched in 2009 as a popular smartphone app that allows you to call vehicles for city trips, has now expanded its list of services by offering other modes of transport, including boats in Turkey and rickshaws in India.

The American company first tested its UberChopper service in 2013 — it was then possible to fly between Manhattan and the prestigious areas of the Hamptons on Long Island. The airy Uber was also tested during various significant events, such as the Cannes Film Festival in May or the Bonnard Music and Art Festival in June. For such trips, passengers paid from several hundred to several thousand dollars. According to the Airbus representative, Uber will also provide transportation, where customers can reach the helicopters to continue their journey.
Currently, the executive director of the largest aerospace corporation in Europe is full of optimism. However, analyzing the situation, one should not forget that at the end of last year, the Washington court closed the American service Flytenow.com, very similar to UberChopper (we
wrote about it on Megamind), thanks to which people could fly on private flights.
