Nanocenter of Tatarstan has sold a stake in a project to create drugs for the treatment of cancer and HIV
The Nanocenter of Tatarstan received 152 million rubles in the sale of its stake in the company Nanofarma Development. The company develops medical products, including for the treatment of cancer, HIV infection and drugs needed for organ transplants.
Nanofarma Development was opened by the Nanocenter of the Republic of Tatarstan and the pharmaceutical company Izvarino Pharma LLC with the participation of the Swiss Ferring Pharmaceuticals. One of the areas of work of the company is the creation of drugs using nanoparticles for the targeted delivery of active substance molecules.
Nanofarma Development has already developed and submitted for registration an anti-leukemia drug Imatinib and an agent for the treatment of organ and tissue transplantation Tacrolimus. The project will produce up to ten drugs, in the nanocenter for this purchased an automated line.

As a result of the transaction, the share of the Nanocenter was acquired by the co-founder of Izvarino Pharma. Rosnano has twelve nanotechnology centers, and this transaction was the first exit of the nanocenter from investments in a portfolio company or a startup.
The representative of Rosnano Denis Belozerov said that the deal was closed in December 2015 with a profit for the nanocenter. The amount of profit is not disclosed.
