Spotify received another class action for $ 200 million

Spotify received another lawsuit regarding copyright infringement. The lawsuit was filed by the American singer Melissa Ferrick (Melissa Ferrick), who claims that the streaming service illegally copied and posted her songs on the site, without notifying her and not taking care of buying a content license.

Melissa filed a lawsuit on Friday, the US District Court in Los Angeles will be in charge. The author and performer of songs wants her claim to receive collective status, and demands that the service pay $ 200 million in compensation for songwriters whose copyright has been violated. Melissa Ferrick claims that her compositions were listened to in the service about 1 million times without a proper license.

As we wrote earlier, only a couple of weeks ago, musician David Lowery (David Lowery) filed a lawsuit for the service, demanding to pay damages in the amount of 150 million for the illegal placement of his compositions. Spotify denies the fact of targeted streaming of songs without obtaining rights to post and copy content, but at the same time the service recognizes that there are songs on the site (and apparently there are many) whose identity has not been established, and therefore there are no deductions for streaming such content to copyright holders. At the same time, the company claims that all the proper holders of funds accumulate in the accounts, waiting for the latter to appear.
