Today,
Google is launching a new acceleration program (
LaunchPad Accelerator ) to support mobile startups in India, Brazil and Indonesia. Companies will receive a grant investment of $ 50 thousand.
The idea of the new program appeared as an analogue of the accelerator launched by Google two and a half years ago. Then it was planned to develop startups around the world, without a specific geographic location.
Google is looking for ways that will allow the company to get more impact in the startup ecosystem. One option is to work in the online segment. In this direction, Google has a result - the project
Udacity nanodegree , in which developers also undergo training and launch their projects. The second option was just the new acceleration program.

“The ultimate goal of this program is to identify those who set the tone for the [local] market and start setting the tone for them,” said Roy Glasberg, head of the acceleration program.
He also
told TechCrunch that the program is designed for five and a half months. During this time, startups must perform many tasks aimed at improving their marketing strategy, design and other aspects of their applications. A mentor will be attached to each project. Half of the mentors are employees of Google, and the other half are recruited from professionals belonging to the startup company circles.
However, the rules promise to be quite flexible, and some start-ups can be allowed to remain in the program for longer than the scheduled time. Someone, instead of “cloud” loans, can issue “AdWords” credits for marketing. Google plans to recruit about 50 projects annually. The launch of the accelerator is scheduled for mid-2016.
In the future, the list of countries in which the program is launched should be expanded.
Today, Google also
announced its intention to launch a program for Android developers in India. In the next three years, the company plans to train two million programmers. Google will implement the program with 30 universities in India.
"In 2004, Google India opened with five employees on board, and now it has grown to one of the largest divisions outside the United States and has almost 1,700 employees,"
wrote Cesar Sengupta, president of Google for Chrome and Android, on his blog.
