Ingram Micro acquired the Russian company for $ 100 million

One of the divisions of Parallels, a Russian IT software company in the field of automation and hosting services virtualization, was purchased by Ingram Micro, an international cloud service provider. According to RBC, the largest distributor of information technology has acquired a division of Parallels called Odin, which develops solutions for information storage and processing centers, hosting providers and telecommunications companies. According to representatives of Ingram Micro, the amount of the transaction exceeds $ 100 million.

This is a logical continuation of cooperation, which began in 2014, when Ingram Micro became a minority shareholder of a Russian company. As a result of this transaction, Parallels discovered new markets and new partners from 170 countries, and the overseas distributor was able to use the solutions created by the Russian developer to improve their virtual store. According to information provided by Parallels employee Yulia Yasinovskaya, at the end of this year all the assets of the Odin division will be transferred to Ingram Micro.

In accordance with the terms of this agreement, the Odin Service Automation platform and its associated cloud service management technologies, as well as all rights to the Odin trademark and intellectual property, become the property of Ingram Micro. Recall that Odin was allocated in a separate unit only in March 2015. Further, the brand will be integrated into the existing Ingram Micro Cloud division. At the moment, about 500 employees work in the Odin subdivision - it is likely that in the future the staff will be increased. According to representatives of the American cloud service provider, this transaction will have a beneficial effect on strengthening Ingram Micro's position in the international cloud services market.

According to Yulia Yasinovskaya, Parallels decided to sell the Odin division primarily because the Odin Service Automation platform required constant investment. Moreover, the company's management decided to focus on the development of its two other divisions - Plesk and Virtuozzo, which will soon become separate companies. Plesk will continue to develop solutions for service providers, and Virtuozzo, in turn, will be developing software in the field of virtualization.
