The Beatles and Apple Inc. shared brand

Apple Inc. and Apple Corps (the company representing the interests of The Beatles in the record market since 1968) reached an agreement related to the use of the Apple trademark. According to him, all rights to the Apple trademark are transferred to Apple Inc.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. “We love The Beatles, and it was extremely difficult for us to clash with them because of the right to own the brand. Now everything is settled, and further differences will not arise "- said Steve Jobs.

The new agreement will completely replace the one that came into force in 1991. Then, 16 years ago, companies argued in court about the use of the common name and the "apple" logo and agreed that Apple Inc. (then Apple Computer Inc.) will retain the name subject to complete non-interference in the music business.

The conflict broke out with a new force in 2003, with the advent of iTunes. The computer company offered Apple Corps (whose owners are Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Ringo Star and an organization representing the interests of George Harrison) to give users of the new service access to The Beatles songs. Apple Corps refused and, moreover, sued Apple Inc., citing a violation of the 1991 agreement.
