The Russian Authors' Society denied the information about the arrest of its accounts.

On November 24, we wrote that the accounts of the Russian Authors ’Society were arrested on suspicion of billions of dollars of embezzlement, with reference to the words of Igor Matvienko. RAO has published an official denial of this information.

A member of the author’s council of the Russian Authors ’Society, Igor Matvienko, at a meeting of the Council for Culture under the chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, said that RAO is not functioning, and the organization’s accounts are blocked . According to Matvienko, the size of the theft of his "hair stood on end when he looked at the documents." The composer said that members of the public testify that we are talking about a sum of about one billion rubles and the case is being prepared for transfer to the prosecutor's office.

The Russian authors' society officially denied this information. The organization claims that as of November 24, 2015, it is operating normally, the author's fee is collected, distributed and paid without interruption, and the information on the “transfer of cases to the prosecutor’s office” is fiction.

RAO confirms that it is being tested against individuals. At the same time, there is no talk of “billion theft”, the competent authorities have not established such a theft.

The irresponsible information spread by some media is untrue, is slanderous and undermines the business reputation of the Russian Authors ’Society.
