Mobile operators MTS and MTS-Ukraine have signed a rebranding agreement. Now in Ukraine, the Russian operator will operate under the Vodafone brand, Interfax reports. 100% of the company "MTS Ukraine" belongs to the Russian PJSC "Mobile TeleSystems". However, MTS Ukraine does not directly belong to the Russian operator, but through Preludium BV registered in the Netherlands and Allegretto Holding in Luxembourg.
In this country, in the coming months, Vodafone will launch new services - roaming, international and long-distance calls, package tariffs. As Oleg Prozhivalsky, General Director of MTS Ukraine, said today, after a brand change, roaming tariffs will be available to Ukrainians in 14 European countries that are comparable in price to roaming rates for subscribers within the EU. Special international rates for 62 countries will also be offered.
In addition, the operator plans to develop a 3G network. Vodafone will gain a strong position in the Ukrainian market from the very beginning, as MTS provided the basis for a high-quality 3G network, said Stefano Gastout, partner of Vodafone partner programs. Technological solutions and activities of Vodafone will positively affect the country's economy, Oleg Prozhivalsky noted.

The fact that MTS plans to abandon its brand in Ukraine, it became known in July. According to the newspaper's interlocutors, the refusal of MTS to work under the old brand was associated with low sales and anti-Russian sentiments in society. At the same time, Vodafone was discussed as the main contender for replacement. Vodafone works according to this scheme with operators in 13 countries in Europe and in Australia. In addition, Virgin was considered a replacement.
The MTS notes that over 20 million subscribers in the country are connected to MTS-Ukraine. Earlier it was reported that from March 2014 to December, the number of subscribers of MTS Ukraine decreased from 21.7 million to 20.2 million.

A top manager of a telecommunications company who is familiar with the plans of MTS calls this deal a “soft entry” into the business. “At first, Vodafone will bring the business processes in the company in line with its standards, and after some time, the second stage of the deal should take place - takeover,” he says.
