Photo: ReutersIDC and Gartner research companies have analyzed the desktop PC market. As it turned out, the third quarter of 2015 cannot be called too successful: the deliveries of desktop PCs decreased by 7.7% (Gartner data) or even 10.8% (IDC data), Kommersant
writes . Probably, the fall in demand was caused by the appreciation of the dollar against many world currencies, which led to a rise in prices of PCs in a number of countries. In this case, sales did not even affect the release of the new Windows 10 operating system, since most users simply upgraded to the new operating system from previous versions, without becoming buying new PCs with Windows 10 preinstalled.
Among the manufacturers of PCs, Chinese, American and Taiwanese companies are the leaders. So, the first place in sales remains for Lenovo, with a share of 20.3%. Then there are three US companies, which are located on the second, third and fourth places: HP (18.5%), Dell (13.8%), Apple (7.6%). In the fifth and sixth places are Acer and Asus with 7.4% and 7.1%, respectively. Deliveries of computers grew over the past year only from Dell and Apple. Other companies have negative dynamics.
Interestingly, both desktop PCs, laptops and ultrabooks have declined. “The global PC market has experienced a price increase of about 10% due to the sharp rise in prices of the US dollar against local currencies. In the third quarter, this led to a decrease in demand and, accordingly, in supplies. This is especially reflected in regions such as EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Japan and Latin America. In the Asia-Pacific region, the situation was more stable, ”said Gartner principal analyst Mikako Kitigawa.

According to IDC representatives, the drop in the supply of desktop PCs is even deeper: experts of this company indicate 10.8%, with the expected drop value of 9.2%. IDC believes that the fall is caused by difficult financial conditions and a transition period.
