LogMeIn Buys LastPass Password Manager

This week, LogMeIn announced the purchase of LastPass Password Manager. The amount of the transaction in this case is $ 125 million in cash. Immediately after the purchase, LastPass will become part of the team password manager Meldium , bought by LogMeIn last year, in September, according to a press release from LogMeIn. Both products will be supported for some time, but then they will be transformed into a single service.

The deal is clearly profitable for LogMeIn, a service that already has several million users. As for LastPass, such a deal is very successful for this company. By the way, LastPass service was hacked in June, but already in August, management set up the work, and announced that the password manager would be free for any user on one of the devices selected by the client (for example, on the phone, while for the desktop and LastPass tablet remains paid).

LogMeIn management plans to eventually create a product with new features that will fully meet the needs of customers. At the same time, the current users of the purchased service are not too happy with the purchase, considering that LastPass will not be able to work normally after closing the transaction. However, some users are already looking for an alternative to manage their passwords.
