Photo: pcweekRussian telecommunications companies, in particular, cellular operators, are faced with the fact that revenues are stagnating - this situation is due to the weakening of the Russian economy. As a result, consumer spending is declining, and so are spending in the corporate sector, Vedomosti reports. But the weakening of the ruble is now leading to an increase in the cost of purchasing foreign equipment.
And the Russian branch of VimpelCom is considering the possibility of either selling cellular towers completely or outsourcing them. “This is a rather serious asset, it is not a core asset today, as practice in other countries shows, it can be allocated, sold ... Indeed, this is a rather potentially demanded story. We are very seriously considering such projects. I think that in the near future we will witness such news in one form or another, ”said the company's general director Mikhail Slobodin.
“This is the purest water opportunity to get more money and not lose ... The more money you have - the more opportunities you have. We will discuss the question of what will happen with this money together with the group in the framework of a single policy, ”said the general director of VimpelCom.

Now, according to Slobodin, the company's customers have become more attentive to their communication expenses, but this does not significantly affect the company's revenues - this effect can be estimated as a percentage, not tens of percent. The main threat to the revenues of telecom operators, says the general director of VimpelCom, is price competition between telecom operators, as well as the growing popularity of various services, including Internet instant messengers.
As for the conclusion of the transaction for the sale of cellular towers, Slobodin did not give clear dates, stating only that it would not take too long.
