Egg or Chicken: Google finally came under the control of Alphabet

The newly established Alphabet holding finally began to work in full force. Now Google is officially owned by the holding. Alphabet was created in August 2015. As conceived by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, it was necessary to restructure the business of Google. The news that Alphabet finally came into its own, reached the public after the close of trading on the American Stock Exchange.

From October 5, two classes (A and C) of Google’s securities on the NASDAQ high-tech exchange will be replaced by Alphabet stocks. In this case, they will remain the same tickers - GOOG and Googl, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Google will be the largest segment of the holding company Alphabet. The holding will include investment units of Google Capital , Nest , Google X , Calico , Google Ventures and WIng .

Google’s co-founder Larry Page became CEO of the holding; Sergey Brin was appointed president. The founders of the corporation plan to closely engage in experimental projects.

Google will now be led by Sundar Pichai, who previously held the post of product director. He was responsible for products such as the Chrome browser and the Android operating system. As part of the corporation are search, advertising unit, map service, application catalog Google Play Store , YouTube and Android .

Alphabet holding will unite independent companies, but will not be used as Alphabet brand.

Back in August , the Alphabet website was launched at abc.xyz. “We liked this name because it means a set of letters that are part of the language - one of the most important innovations of humanity; this is at the heart of Google search indexing, ”co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page admitted.
