Ad blocking is legal. Adblock Plus won the case against the international media holding Axel Springer

Owners of many sites do not have any warm feelings for ad blockers. The claim of the German media holding Axel Springer to Adblock Plus was rejected by the court of Cologne, writes VentureBeat. At the same time, the publishing house went to court demanding to ban virtually any ad blocking tools. Plus, Axel Springer’s leadership strongly opposed the Adblock Plus manifesto about acceptable advertising.

Holding demanded to ban any ad blocking tools that used whitelists. Interestingly, representatives of the Adblock Plus team compared themselves to Superman or Batman, saying that the project serves the good by protecting the rights of users.

Interestingly, the court in this case was decisive, because the struggle of publishers with ad blockers went international. Previously, claims were filed only by local businesses. The current process has become a precedent since the court recognized the right of any user to block advertisements using various software tools.
