TNS conducted research among residents of Russia (12–64 years old) in cities with a population of more than 700 thousand people. In July of this year, 14.2 million smartphone and tablet owners used
Google services at least once a month, and 15 million users visited this site from desktops and laptops. Figures are excluding YouTube. In
Facebook, these figures are 6.9 million and 7.2 million users, respectively. Thus, in the major cities of Russia, almost the same number of users prefers to visit Google and Facebook from mobile devices and from personal computers or laptops.
According to TNS, now in Russia at least once a month use the Internet 82 million people, or 66% of residents over 12 years. In cities with a population of more than 100 thousand people, 46.9 million people regularly use the Internet, or 74% of the population. With mobile devices, 32.8 million people enter the network at least once a month, or almost half of the inhabitants of such cities. “Desktop” audience in these cities for the year decreased by 3%, and mobile increased by 20%.
Facebook receives more than half of its “desktop” audience in Russia and a third of mobile due to users who visit this service 1–2 times a month. A day later, only 11% of its “desktop” audience and a quarter of the mobile use the social network.

Russian competitors Google and Facebook have a wide gap between the desktop and mobile audience. At the same
VKontakte, these audiences are 12 million and 14.7 million users, respectively,
Yandex has 12 million and 17 million,
Mail.ru has 9.3 million and 15.9 million. The CEO of VKontakte, Boris Dobrodeev, claims that mobile users already make up more than half of the social network’s audience, Vedomosti reports
Google services are still the most popular in Russia, despite (or due to) unfair game companies in the market.
On September 14, Megamind
wrote that the Federal Antimonopoly Service recognized Google as the violator of antitrust laws. The case against Google was initiated on the complaint of "Yandex". According to representatives of the domestic company, Google dictates its own conditions to manufacturers of mobile devices based on Android OS. Yandex claims that Google prohibits mobile device manufacturers from pre-installing applications and services from other Internet companies.
