In the coming months, VimpelCom can cut personnel by "tens of percent," said operator general director Mikhail Slobodin. The cuts will affect management personnel, but not employees who work directly with customers. This step will allow the company to optimize costs.
Mikhail Slobodin told Russia 24 on the planned reorganization. The company will reduce the number of regional divisions and the number of managers. Most of the most painful changes will occur within six to eight months. Employees of the retail network, call center and other employees who interact with customers, the changes will not affect.
In 2014, VimpelCom's personnel costs amounted to 26.7 billion rubles. According to the estimates of Alexander Vengranovich, an analyst for the Opening of Capital, a reduction of 10% of the staff could be comparable to 1.5% of the company's revenue - VimpelCom could save four billion rubles. But in practice, the company will first have to increase costs - to pay severance pay to dismissed employees.

Representatives of
MTS and
Tele2 , Dmitry Solodovnikov and Konstantin Prokshin, told
Vedomosti that the companies do not plan cuts.
Dmitry Solodovnikov is sure that if during a crisis a company changes its plans and resorts to extraordinary measures, it means that in normal times the business did not work properly. In the second quarter of 2015, MTS was the only operator that showed growth in revenues from the mobile business.
