Alibaba already transfers personal data of Russians to Moscow data center

The Chinese company Alibaba Group continues the process of transferring personal data of Russian users to Russia. At the same time, Alibaba Group leases the capacity of Linxdatacenter Moscow data center, with a rental cost of $ 3 million to $ 5 million per year. The transfer of data will be carried out in the Moscow data center of Linxdatacenter, write "Vedomosti". At the same time, Linx representative and director of the representative office of a Chinese company in Russia Mark Zavadsky declined to comment.

Earlier, Megamozg already wrote that the transfer of personal data of Russians to the Russian Federation is required by the updated Law “On Personal Data”, the amendments to which entered into force on September 1, 2015. Personal data is information that is used when registering on websites, making purchases online, sending e-mail messages and other data.

On April 113, 2015, Mark Zavadsky met with representatives of Roskomnadzor to discuss the localization of personal data of Russian users of the Chinese service. For example, representatives of the business unit of Alibaba Group "have declared an understanding of the legal field of the Russian Federation and the desire to follow the requirements of the law applicable to the company."

The transfer of personal data by the Alibaba Group began at the end of May. In early August, a part of the equipment was moved to Russia, and now the process continues. The Alibaba data center occupies 20 racks, but it is planned to rent only 200. The cost of such a lease, depending on the terms of the contract, will be from $ 3 million to $ 4.8 million

It is interesting that the Alibaba Group also involved Huawei in the project of moving equipment and personal data of domestic users in the Russian Federation. Under the terms of the contract, this company was supposed to supply equipment.
