The company Ubisoft, a monster of the gaming industry, has released
many well-known games , also known for its strong position on the protection of their works from copying.
With their new game "Rainbow Six: Vegas 2" there were problems for users who bought it through the "
Direct2Drive " system. After a short time, the company's support released a patch fixing this problem.
')
However, when an inquisitive user
got into the patch with a hex editor, he saw there ... The name of the group RELOADED, a well-known drug-releasing group, allowing to run games without original discs and other protection. The patch contained No-CD from RELOADED!
After the screenshot appeared, the patch was removed. Ubisoft support moderators
state that this was a mistake and it will be investigated at the highest level.
Whatever it was, it only once again reminds us that all kinds of copy protection often harm those users who actually bought the product. Individuals who receive games and movies illegally, most often get them in a convenient and working way.
As always, interesting points of view, discussions and good contextual jokes on this topic
