Russian tourist online service OneTwoTrip changed the CEO and development strategy

Russian tourist online service OneTwoTrip announced a change of strategy. This happened after the appointment of a new CEO. The position was taken by the former managing director of the company, Mikhail Sokolov. The new strategy involves the intensification of work on mobile applications. In addition, the new manager plans to enter foreign markets.

Former CEO Petr Kutis will lead the board of directors and will also take the place of product director.

In addition to hotel reservations, ticket sales and train tickets, a car rental service will be launched in October. The company plans to add new services further. For example, after starting a rental car on the queue - booking of dynamic tour packages (flight and hotel). According to Mikhail Sokolov, the OneTwoTrip for iOS application already has “hundreds of thousands of installations” and more than 10 thousand active users every day. The plans for this fall - the revision of the application for Android and release versions for tablets.

“A year ago, we had 2% of purchases (tickets, hotels and services) outside the Russian Federation, now it’s 10%, and 25% is expected in a year,” says Mikhail Sokolov. In early September, localized versions of the mobile application for Ukraine, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, USA, and Germany will be launched. Later, the company will come to Kazakhstan, and in early 2016, the service will enter the markets of Turkey, Vietnam and Indonesia.

The company also planned to transfer personal data of its Russian clients to Russia. This is necessary in order to comply with the new requirements of the RF Law “On Personal Data”. OneTwoTrip processes and stores the data necessary for issuing and paying for air and railway tickets and booking hotel rooms - first name, last name, patronymic name and passport data. IT infrastructure for OneTwoTrip provided Selectel , the founder of which is the former shareholder of "VKontakte" Lev Leviev, writes "Kommersant".

Megamind wrote in March that OneTwoTrip attracted investment from a large fund Goldman Sachs , which acquired additional shares of OneTwoTrip worth $ 8 million.

OneTwoTrip was launched in May 2011. The creator of the service, Peter Kutis, claims that he managed to achieve operational profitability in almost half a year. OneTwoTrip is co- owned by Atomico and Phenomen Ventures , which have invested $ 16 million and $ 9 million, respectively.
