According to the representative of M.video, Anton Panteleev, about 34% of smartphones sold by the company since mid-July were bought on credit. The situation is similar in Svyaznoy, where in the first half of the year the share of “credit” smartphones was 23%. This is a third more than a year earlier, Vedomosti writes . In the MTS in the first half of 2015, about 20% of smartphones were bought on credit. In Euroset about 20% of goods are bought on credit, however, this share is about 16% from smartphones.

Analytical company Mobile Research Group previously published information that Euroset, Svyaznoy, MTS and M.video accounted for the majority (80%) of smartphone sales in the Russian Federation.

According to one of the employees of retail networks, the real share of "credit" smartphones may be even higher. The fact is that part of the purchases is paid by credit cards, but the seller is not able to track whether the buyer has paid for the phone with a credit or debit card.

Most often, loans are bought expensive devices. Thus, the share of “credit” purchases of smartphones more than 10 thousand rubles is 35-40%. A year ago, this figure was 32-25%. Most often, loans are bought by smartphones, tablets and laptops with a price tag above 15,000 rubles. Sometimes they buy several devices at once, in this case the amount of the check is 25,000 rubles and above. In general, it was thanks to loans that MTS increased sales of expensive devices in the second quarter of this year, with a price tag higher than 30 thousand rubles, 3 times compared with the first quarter.

Anton Panteleev also believes that smartphones are one of the most credit-dependent product categories. In this case, the growth of sales of these devices affect credit stocks. For example, in the event of a stock on the sale of goods in installments with zero initial payment, the level of sales of such goods increases immediately by 20-25%.

According to the representatives of the banks, usually “interest-free installments” means the compensation to the bank of the amounts of interest on the loan to the phone from the seller or manufacturer. Plus, lending to the purchase of electronics and small household appliances - the most risky type of lending. About 20% of such loans are simply not returned.
