In the first half of the year, the Russian advertising market declined by 16% with a steadily growing Internet segment.

The growth rate of online advertising in Russia in the first half amounted to 10%. During the first three months of the year, an increase of 9% was observed. Advertising revenues of Internet companies reached 42 billion rubles. It turned out that among all segments of the Russian advertising market, only the Internet segment showed growth. According to the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (ACAR), in the first six months of the year, the advertising market in Russia declined by 16% compared with the same period in 2014.

The income of the print media, for example, fell by 33% - to 11.4-11.2 billion rubles. Russian television advertising revenues decreased by 22% to 61.1-61.6 billion rubles. The radio market has decreased by 21% to 6-6.2 billion rubles. The outdoor advertising market fell by 27% to 15.3-15.5 billion rubles.

According to Sergey Veselov, head of the marketing research department at Vi Analytical Center, in the third quarter, the indicators of the advertising market may slightly improve, depending on the state of the economy.

Recently, one of the largest media companies in Russia, CTC Media, reported a 26% drop in advertising revenue in the first quarter. However , Yandex’s revenue from contextual advertising in the second quarter of 2015 amounted to 13.9 billion rubles, which is 14% more than in the same period of 2014.

CTC Media General Director Juliana Slashcheva believes that the state will improve in the second half of the year. With the forecast of improvement in the III-IV quarters of 2015, the CEO of the Media Direction Group advertising group, Andrey Brayovich, agrees.
