FAS spokesman Alexey Gorlinsky
reported on an investigation into the activities of
Uber ,
GetTaxi and Yandex.Taxi, which began due to the large number of requests for services.
Previously, the St. Petersburg Taxi Association has written an open letter to Governor Georgy Poltavchenko with a request to ban online taxi-calling services, because they have turned Petersburg into a “marketing battleground for tariff cuts.” Taxi drivers drew the attention of the authorities to the fact that the minimum tariffs for online services are comparable to the price of travel by public transport.
Alexander Starovoytov, deputy head of the State Duma Transport Committee, turned to Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika with a request to check services for possible tax evasion, and a
similar letter was sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office by the Federation of Russian Car Owners Sergey Kanaev. According to representatives of the Federation of Car Owners of Russia, taxi order services violate the law by practicing surcharges to drivers.
FAS Deputy Head Andrei Tsarikovsky considers the “conflict somewhat contrived”.
