Samsung closed Boxee service

Two years ago, Samsung acquired Boxee streaming service . Now the company closes this service, and completely dismisses the team. Ex-Seo Boxee Avner Ronen (Avner Ronen), who worked as vice president of products for the company, also leaves his post. Earlier, the corporation invested heavily in the service and the Boxee team, increasing the staff from 40 to 100 people. The goal is to create the perfect TV service.

The corporation planned to use the tablet device in order to make the management of TV functions and service more convenient. The tablet at the same time could be used as an advanced remote control. All this had to come with hi-end televisions as a replacement for the traditional remote control.

All this sounds quite promising, but unfortunately, the project will most likely not be implemented. Dozens of people were laid off relatively recently, including representatives of the old Boxee team. The project had several problems, one of which was a problem when concluding an agreement with content providers. There are also contradictions within the team.

Now all this is already in the past - the service is closed, and, probably, the project's workings out will remain only on paper.
