A new service is being created in Russia to address copyright issues.
The Russian authorities have decided to create a separate department, which will deal with all issues related to copyright. The new service is being created on the basis of Rospatent, it will be headed by the head of this department, Grigory Ivliev (in the photo).
Presenting the new leader, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said that the government had prepared a draft decree, according to which a mega-regulator service would be created on the basis of Rospatent, which would deal with all issues related to intellectual law in Russia. In particular, the current authority of the Ministry of Culture regarding the protection of copyright will be transferred to the service.
Shuvalov linked the creation of a new service to the Russian economy’s need for modernization, which is impossible without copyright protection.
