Most advertising on the Russian Internet is bought for automakers.

According to AdIndex, agencies working with automakers have become the largest buyers of online advertising. The publication has prepared for RBC a rating of the largest Russian advertising agencies specializing in online services. The ranking took into account the participants' turnovers in banner and contextual advertising, search engine optimization, automated procurement of advertising and lead generation.

In 2014, the total turnover of agencies in the ranking amounted to 26.7 billion rubles, including VAT, according to AdIndex. The main activity of agencies - placing banners: the budget for this advertising amounted to 11.7 billion. The budget for contextual advertising was 9.4 billion, for other services - 5.6 billion rubles.

The leaders of the rating according to the version of AdIndex are Group M and Dentsu Aegis, working with and including auto concerns. Group M is working with Ford Auto Concern - the company's Internet spending has almost reached one billion rubles. Dentsu Aegis works with General Motors, Toyota and BMW.

According to the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (ACAR), expenses for banner advertising in 2014 amounted to 22.5 billion rubles, for contextual advertising - 77.3 billion including VAT. Video advertising accounted for 5.4-5.7 billion rubles.
