Nokia map service sold for € 2.8 billion

The Finnish company Nokia has agreed to sell its map service Nokia Here for € 2.8 billion. The deal will be closed in the first quarter of 2016, the Nokia website reports . The customer of the service is a consortium of Audi, BMW and Daimler. Automakers may attract additional investment for the development of the project.

Now Nokia plans to focus on working with Alcatel-Lucent’s assets, a company that was bought by Finns for € 16 billion. Alcatel-Lucent’s merger with Nokia has already been approved by the European Commission.

According to the company's management, the transfer of the Here service to new customers is the last stage of updating the Nokia structure. This is a good solution for both service customers and shareholders.
