Twitter revenues increased by 38% in Q2, and the audience increased by only 2.6%

In the second quarter of 2015, Twitter's revenue reached $ 502.4 million. This is 38% more than in the second quarter of last year ($ 312.2 million). Revenue was higher than the projected level, reports The Guardian.
The company's loss amounted to $ 137 million. Twitter revenues for the first half increased 1.7 times - up to $ 938.3 million. Net loss rose 8% to $ 299.1 million.

Previously, the number of active Twitter users increased by 15% every year. However, in the period from April to June, a growth rate of only 2.6% was recorded. According to the report, the number of active users during this period increased from 308 million to 316 million.

Later it became known that in fact the Twitter audience for the II quarter grew by about 2 million users. The fact is that the company has improved its own statistics by including those who use the service by sending SMS.

According to the interim head of the company, Jack Dorsey, initiatives to create new products have not yet had a significant impact on the growth of the audience. Today, Megamind also wrote that Twitter lost 450 employees in a year.

After the announcement of the revenue Twitter shares went up by 4%. However, later their price returned to the previous level and then fell by 11.3%, reaching $ 32.41 per share. One of the reasons for the fall is the lack of growth of the service audience in the USA: since mid-2014, its volume has been kept at around 66 million users.
