According to representatives of the Federation of Car Owners of Russia, the order taxi services, such as Uber, Gett and Yandex.Taxi, violate the law by practicing additional payments to drivers. The FAR believes that such actions by taxi call services are “an open disregard for the organizational and technical foundations, as well as the traditions of passenger car passenger safety,” writes Slon. In order to verify the validity of these services, the PAR, headed by Sergey Kanaev,
appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Public Chamber with a request to check the work of the taxi call services.
The letter itself says that this practice is a “socially dangerous act”, which “has all the elements of a crime, qualifying as part 2 of article 204 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation“ Commercial bribery ”.”
Representatives of Uber and Yandex.Taxi have already commented on the appeal of PAR, stating that low tariffs of services, compared to tariffs of traditional taxi companies, are due to a more efficient business model. At the same time, the leadership of Uber stated that the accusations by the HEADLIGHTS do not correspond to reality.
We also recall that in early July, taxi companies in St. Petersburg asked the governor Georgy Poltavchenko to prevent Uber, Gett and Yandex.Taxi. The governor refused, citing the absence of such powers from the regional authorities.
