Groupon enters the food delivery market: the company bought the OrderUp service

Groupon is preparing to enter the seventy billion dollars food delivery market. The company bought a startup OrderUp, founded in 2009 in Baltimore, operating in sixty-three cities in twenty-six US states.

During its existence, the service has attracted eight million dollars of investment. In August 2014, the company raised seven million dollars from the Revolution Ventures Foundation and business angels.

The head of OrderUp in the release said that he believes Groupon is an ideal place for the development of the project due to its scale. “We look forward to the thousands of great restaurants we work with to feed Groupon’s hungry customers in the country,” said company founder Chris Jeffery.
