Mail.ru Group has become a leader in the non-gaming segment of the mobile apps market in Russia

According to the analytic service App Annie for March-May 2015, Mail.Ru Group has become the leader among publishers of mobile non-game applications in Russia in terms of downloads and revenues.

Last year, the holding was also the leader in the number of downloads, but was in third place in terms of income from its applications in this category. The study does not take into account the company's revenue from advertising.

In addition, Yandex appeared on the list of the top ten companies. He ranked second in the number of downloads. The remaining eight places are occupied by foreign companies. The most popular applications of the leaders are Mail Mail.Ru , Mail.ru Horoscopes , maps.Me , VKontakte and Odnoklassniki map services; Yandex.Navigator , Yandex.Browser and Yandex.Maps (“Yandex”).

The third place is occupied by Facebook . In fourth place was the Chinese publisher Cheetah Mobile , which specializes in information security. Fifth place went to Google .

In the ranking of the company's revenues are different. Mail.ru Group takes the first place, Litres book service takes the second place , Navitel cartographic company takes the third place , and Ivi.ru video service takes the fourth place . In total, there are eight Russian companies in this list, the Japanese holding Rakuten (the owner of the Viber messenger is in 5th place) and the European social network for dating Badoo (owned by Andrey Andreev - in 6th place).

According to Adarapp.com marketing director Anar Babayev, the rating would be different if advertising revenues were taken into account. “If you look at the“ monsters ”who earn on internal purchases, then for them advertising is 10% of the total income. And some do not use it at all, ”he told RBC.

The publishers of games that earned more in Russia than the Mail.ru Group did not make it to the rating: Supercell , Machine Zone , Elex Technology and Wargaming .

Russia ranks fifth in the world in the number of downloads from the App Store and Google Play , and in terms of publisher incomes is twelfth. In March-May 2015, owners of iOS devices provided 60% of publisher's revenue. Applications from Google Play were downloaded 3.8 times more often than from the App Store. Their smaller contribution to total income is due to a lower price. 75% of revenues to publishers in Russia bring the game.

It should be noted that in the global market, Mail.ru ranks third in the number of downloads and fourth in terms of income.
