The President of Russia signed the law on the "right to oblivion"

Criticizing representatives of the Internet industry, a law that is known as the “ law on the right to oblivion ” was signed by Vladimir Putin. Thus, from January 1, 2016, search services will not be able to display links to information about various people, which will be declared “irrelevant” by them, RBC writes . The approved and signed document makes the appropriate amendments to the law “On Information, Information Technologies and on Information Protection”.

It should be noted that the irrelevance of the information, the links to which the applicant asks to remove, must be confirmed. For example, officials will be able to request removal of links only after a full career, with the provision of a document on leaving the public service.

“The exception is information about events that contain signs of criminal acts, the terms of criminal prosecution for which have not expired, and information about the commission of a crime by an individual for which the criminal record is not removed or canceled,” the Kremlin website notes.

The law, which was signed by the head of state, has already been published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
