Yandex is going to increase the number of mobile developers
Yandex is planning to allocate Yandex.Browser and mobile technologies into an autonomous unit, which will be headed by Dmitry Polishchuk. Earlier, Polishchuk led the development of the company's mobile services, Vedomosti reports. The analytical division AppMetrica also entered the new division. Mobile applications for most of the company's services (such as Taxi, Maps, Mail, and others) will be developed by the staff of the relevant Yandex departments. The mobile division will specialize in creating new services and increasing the expertise of the company in the mobile Internet.
As part of this project, the company intends to recruit about 100 new specialists from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk. Most new employees will be busy in the mobile direction. Yandex now needs developers, designers, project managers, product specialists and testers, according to search engine representative Ekaterina Karnaukhova. Now 150 people work at Yandex Browser, and the company has a total of 5,600 employees.
“Yandex Browser” was first launched 3 years ago, in 2012, the mobile version of it appeared in 2013. It is worth noting that the decline in the share of domestic search service is mainly due to mobile traffic. As for reducing the search share of Yandex, over the past year, this indicator (calculated based on search queries of Russian users) has decreased from 61.1 to 56.7%. At the same time, according to LiveInternet, the share of Google increased from 29.1 to 34.6%.

Now all this does not affect the financial results of the company, but this situation represents a risk for the future of Yandex, analysts say Otkrytie, VTB Capital and some other investment banks.
In order to protect its interests in the mobile Internet, Yandex turned to the Russian authorities. So, in February, the company has already complained to Google in the FAS, the next meeting on this case will be held in September.
Since the beginning of the year, the company's expenses for the maintenance of employees have increased significantly. The reason is compensation to the developers of the depreciation of the ruble. So, in the first quarter of 2015, employees spent 27% of revenue.
