Uber plans to transfer the personal data of Russians to the territory of Russia.
When using the online taxi service, users enter their payment card details. And this information is personal data according to the laws of the Russian Federation. It is worth noting that in the United States the information transmitted for the transaction is not personal.

The representative office of Uber in Russia (Uber Technology LLC) was opened in 2013. Its CEO is Dmitry Izmailov. According to the company, there are tens of thousands of Uber users in Russia.
The law “On Personal Data” will come into force on September 1, 2015. It orders foreign companies to place data on Russian customers exclusively in the territory of the Russian Federation. Similar laws are already in force in Vietnam, China, Indonesia and India.
Some foreign companies have expressed their willingness to start data migration. Some of them have already begun this process.
