Google and mapping company Waze launch ridesharing service

Waze launches RideWith’s riding service in Israel.

Waze is a cartographic startup that Google bought for a billion dollars two years ago. The service will use its navigation system to determine routes. Analyzing the routes most frequently used by drivers, the application will pick up passengers for them.

However, drivers have a limit on the number of traffic - they can take companions no more than twice a day. Thus, drivers will not be able to earn a significant income from this, and most importantly, taxi drivers will not be perceived as competitors. The creators of the service introduced this restriction in order to further avoid the problems that Uber had to face, reports The Verge.
