After news that representatives of taxi companies in St. Petersburg on July 2 appealed to Governor Georgy Poltavchenko with a request to ban the work of Uber, Gett and Yandex.Taxi companies, the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service intervened.
The words of the deputy head of department, Andrei Tsarikovsky, are
quoted by the “Agency of business news”:
“I do not see violations of antitrust laws here. I think the conflict is somewhat contrived "
Tsarikovsky also said that he sympathizes with taxi drivers, however, in his opinion, Internet services like Uber are very convenient.
According to the taxi drivers who filed a complaint, the companies mentioned are not responsible for their work and foreign companies that do not pay taxes in Russia receive profits from their activities. The authors of the appeal also believe that Internet services underestimate the cost of travel, thus violating the competition law.
