Microsoft has a ten-year deal with AOL

The essence of the contract is cooperation in the advertising field. So, AOL will sell Microsoft ads, while on the AOL site Bing search will work instead of Google search. The corresponding agreement was signed for 10 years, writes Roem. A Bing search on the AOL site will appear starting January 1, 2016.

Also on the main website of the AOL company, Bing Ads ad sales technology will be introduced instead of similar advertising from Google. It is worth noting that Microsoft now owns about 20% of organic search in the United States, and the company hopes to increase its share through cooperation with partners.

AOL owns about 1% of the US search market.

AOL will sell all display advertising formats for Microsoft, except Bing Ads. Formats include mobile and video ads. Advertising sales will be conducted in countries such as Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Britain and the United States. It's about advertising on MSN, Outlook, Xbox and Skype. Note that in addition to its own main site, AOL owns such popular resources as Huffington Post, TechCrunch and Engadget. This allows you to create a single advertising market for advertisers. In other markets, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland, advertisements will be sold through AppNexus RTB-Exchange.

The agreement also states that 1,200 employees will be transferred from Microsoft to AOL.

AOL is now owned by Verizon, which the telecommunications giant acquired last week for $ 4.4 billion.
