French taxi drivers turn over and burn UberPOP drivers' cars

Nearly three thousand taxi drivers in France made a speech on June 25, 2015 against UberPOP , a Uber low-fire. They blocked the roads to the airports of Charles de Gaulle and Arly, to train stations in the center of Paris and transport hubs on the outskirts of the city. Several cars of private taxi drivers protesters turned over and set on fire.

Anyone can become a UberPOP driver. You do not need to get a license for this. The trip, which costs ten euros in an official taxi, will cost four euros in UberPOP. Taxis see this as unfair competition.

French authorities plan to close UberPOP.

In February 2015, Uber received the Crunchies award as “startup of the year”. San Francisco taxi drivers at this point protested against this next to the building where the ceremony was held. At the end of March in Brussels, taxi drivers attacked Ubermen , threw flour and eggs at people and took the phones from drivers.

Uber offices in Amsterdam were searched in March. Inspectors from the Ministry of Transport of the Netherlands were looking for lists of names of drivers who are not licensed but cooperate with the service. The company itself was already fined $ 100 thousand in this country, but it continued to work with drivers without a license.

Uber is prohibited in some countries, Uber drivers are fined for breaking the law. Germany has already banned UberPOP. Uber drivers were obliged to purchase commercial licenses to work with the Uber X and Uberpop services. In March, Uber was going to pay commercial licenses to its drivers in Germany. The cost of the license ranges from one hundred to two hundred euros. This may indicate a serious change in company policy.

Users perceive Uber as a transport company, but it is an intermediary between car owners who want to make money and passengers. Uber policy from the beginning did not assume the presence of licenses from drivers. Unlike services like Yandex.Taxi, which work with licensed taxis, paying taxes. This affects the cost of travel. Why should a passenger pay ten euros to an official taxi against four euros when ordering through UberPOP? The company influenced the traditional business: for example, one of the New York taxi players owed tens of millions of dollars to creditors because of the appearance of Uber in the market. The company began to literally destroy taxi companies, depriving their employees of work.

Techcrunch journalist talked to the protesting taxi drivers in Paris. "I worked as a taxi driver for the past seven years, and have been on vacation twice in those seven years." Then the taxi driver showed the images in the phone. In the first photo, he stood at the black Mercedes Uber driver. On the second - the same car was turned upside down. "We burned this car - watch the video."
