There are fewer domains in the .ru zone

According to the Coordination Center of the National Internet Domain (KC), in the .ru zone, compared with last year, there were 1.08% fewer domains. At the same time, the center predicted an increase in the number of domains in the zone, and now the .ru-domains are 10.1% less than KC predicted. Center analysts expected the same increase in the number of domains, as in previous years, write “Vedomosti”. So, in 2013, this show grew by 6.3%.

In early 2014, the registration of new domains in this zone continued very actively. However, in April last year, the outflow of domain names began, and in December, just over a month, in the .ru zone immediately became less 25,817 domains. This means that thousands of domain names have not been renewed.

Now KC registers a decrease in both the number of domains registered per administrator and the number of administrators themselves. Often, "domainers", people who sell domains, register themselves hundreds and thousands of domains, with a view to further sale.

As for 2015, in May there was a slight increase in .ru-domains, their number increased by 0.7%, to 4.89 million. According to the representative of KC Olga Alexandrov-Myasina, this growth is due to discounts and promotions for registrars.

The reason for the decrease in the number of domains in the .ru zone is the general deterioration of the economic situation in Russia, which has a significant impact on small business. In addition, the policy of Yandex and Google regarding the ranking of sites has changed. So, the search engines last year began to exclude the so-called "parking" sites from search results. As a result, the administrators of the parked domains did not renew them, because they lost revenue from sites of this type.

Some experts (for example, Andrei Vorobiev, director of communications at the Internet Development Institute) believe that the decrease in the number of .ru-domains may be due to another factor - competition with other domain zones, including RF, .moscow, .Moscow, .center, etc. .
