Sphinx 0.9.8 released

Sphinx - an open source search engine created in Russia, which is used by a number of popular ( Dailymotion , Mininova , ThePirateBay , NetLog , etc.) and a number of mythical (SuperHabr) sites - finally reached the next release version.



Compared to version 0.9.7, about 70 new features have been added and even more bugs fixed. In particular, during the reporting year, with the Sphinx 0.9.8 cap, the API for Java, Ruby, pure C (libsphinxclient) got hold of; got a new search engine; learned to support calculated expressions; I began to understand multi-valued numerical attributes and bit fields ... and generally doubled in terms of source code.

In addition, not without the help of habra people Sphinx sneaked into the finalists of the SourceForge Community Choice Awards 2008 contest - by the way, among the finalists in their categories (Best Project, Best Project for the Enterprise) is the only domestic project. Mega-thanks to everyone who voted during the 1st round!

About a week is left before the closing of the 2nd round, so I ask all interested parties to vote again in the 2nd round, if not yet - and spread the information, if yes. Serious competitors (OpenOffice, Drupal, etc.), we need to push together! :-)

In the near future, it is planned to release PECL extension with a client 0.9.8, and the release of the alpha version 0.9.9 with the next row of new features. The conquest of the world continues :-)
