From 2016, Nokia will begin to produce mobile devices under other brands.

Nokia CEO Rajiv Suri said that the company will return to the development of mobile devices in 2016.



Nokia will develop the design of smartphones and sell licenses to third-party manufacturers, for example, Foxconn . They will be engaged in the production and release of devices. But this will not happen before 2016, as long as Nokia has hands tied with an agreement with Microsoft .



Under its terms, Nokia cannot release mobile devices under its brand for 10 years from the date of signing the agreement (2013). Moreover, until the end of 2015, the company does not have the right to produce phones under other brands.

At the end of 2012, the operating loss of Nokia’s mobile business reached 1.1 billion euros. Revenue in the same year decreased by 34% compared with 2011. And in 2013, the above-mentioned agreement was signed and the business was sold to Microsoft for 5.4 billion euros, CNews reports .



Previously, Nokia was the largest mobile phone manufacturer.
