According to the head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, domestic users need a national application to send messages. According to Zharkov, “the main trend of the development of the Internet in Russia is import substitution,” so “we need our own national software platform and services,” reports the publication Slon.ru.
“We now use only foreign. It (the national messenger) is needed to reflect the national identity - such an instant messenger must use the features of our language. About 300 million people in the world use Russian-language services, ”said Zharov, speaking at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.
It should be noted that the national search system Sputnik, which occupies about 1% of the search market, has been operating in Russia for about a year now. In addition, it is planned to create an alternative to Wikipedia.
