The permanent head of the company 21st Century Fox (until 2013 - News Corps) and the controlling shareholder 84-year-old Rupert Murdoch plans to leave his post,
writes CNBC. Rupert Murdoch will be replaced by his son, James Murdoch.
The official statement of the company is expected one of these days, but the change of leadership itself may occur both this year and next. Rupert Murdoch will continue to work as the executive chairman of Fox, while another magnate’s son, Lachlan Murdock, will take over as co-chair.
In this case, the current operating director of Fox Chace Carey will leave his post, and will become an adviser in the company. Under the contract, Carey may leave his post at the end of 2015, although it is likely that he will work in 2016.

Sources close to the Murdoch family report that the current role of Rupert Murdoch and his sons in the company can be described as a “partnership.”
All planned changes will be discussed at the next meeting of the company's board of directors.
It is worth noting that the current changes are of a qualitatively new character. Until now, the company’s operating director has always been a person from the outside, not a relative of the Murdoch family. For many years in this position, Peter Chernin worked, who in 2009 was replaced by Carey. Shareholders appreciate Keri Chace’s work in his post.
James Murdoch will manage the work of the corporation, and his brother Lachlan will deal with strategic issues.
