Booking.com will store data in Russia

Antonina Priezhaeva, Deputy Head of Roskomnadzor, met with Booking.com top managers. The most popular tourist site in Russia is ready to store personal data of citizens in the country, writes Kommersant .

The senior infrastructure and technology manager of Booking.com and the general director of Bucking.com Rusia LLC discussed the implementation of the law on the storage of personal data of Russian citizens in the country. The press service of Booking.com confirmed the meeting with Roskomnadzor to Kommersant and noted that Russia is an important market for the company and that the company follows the events around 242 Federal Law.

Roskomnadzor held meetings on the storage of personal data of Russian citizens by foreign companies in the country with an online auction site eBay and AliExpress . As a result of negotiations, Roskomnadzor has not reached an agreement with Google.

Law 242-FZ "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation regarding the clarification of the procedure for processing personal data in information and telecommunication networks" will enter into force on September 1, 2015. From this point on, all companies working with personal data of Russian citizens should keep this data only on the territory of this country. This law caused a lot of questions and opinions , it was proposed to soften , allowing the data of Russians to be stored abroad with the consent of the users themselves.
