Russia and Turkey held talks on joint cooperation on the issues of informatization and software development with open source

The director of the e-government development department of Russia, Vladimir Averbakh, and representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media discussed with their Turkish colleagues the possibility of joint cooperation in the field of information technology and software development, in particular. Perhaps countries will be able to work together on open source projects.

It is known that at the end of last year, the presidents of Russia and Turkey began negotiations in this direction.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Mass Communications set out the main points of the “Strategy for the development of the IT industry in Russia until 2025” and the roadmap for its implementation: increasing the attractiveness of Russian jurisdiction for IT companies, including small and medium-sized businesses, creating an infrastructure of high-performance jobs, eliminating personnel shortages IT industry and the promotion of IT specialties, reports CNews. By 2018, it is planned to double the share of the IT industry in Russia's GDP.

Representatives of Turkey from the Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communications, as well as the Ministry of Development of the Republic spoke about the main directions of IT development in the country. Among them - the development of infrastructure and the actualization of the legislative framework.

The Minister of Communications Nikolay Nikiforov discussed the same issues with the representatives of Iran and Palestine in mid-April. A separate topic was the prospect of joint software development with the BRICS countries .

In mid-May, Nikiforova’s deputy, Alexey Volin, met with Nyombi Tembo, Uganda’s Minister of Information and IT. The parties decided to start cooperation in the direction of IT, e-government, communications and information.

"Megamind" wrote that in April 2015 the Ministry of Communications officially announced the search for developers of the national mobile operating system. Today, about 95% of the OS used in Russia is imported. Applications for the creation of a domestic mobile OS have already been submitted by two participants - the Research Institute SOKB and the Finnish company Jolla .
