In the near future,
Sberbank plans to launch construction work on the territory of the
Skolkovo Innovation Center. The issue of building a data center and a technopark is almost resolved. In late April, President of the Skolkovo Foundation Viktor Vekselberg and Sberbank President German Gref talked about this.
The intention to build a data center Sberbank reported back in 2011. At first, Skolkovo could not guarantee Sberbank engineering infrastructure (for example, supplying electricity to facilities), then there was a time of political uncertainty, and in 2014 the project was suspended due to difficulties in the economy, a source
told Vedomosti.
One data center (called “South Port”) the bank already has. Its construction cost $ 1.2 billion. By creating a second data center, Sberbank will solve the problem of resiliency. It is planned to install about two thousand server racks. The area of machine rooms should be at least five thousand square meters.
')
SCM Group holding was chosen as a contractor. It is planned to spend 9.5 billion rubles on the construction.
Sberbank announced a tender for the design of a technopark relatively recently - in November last year. It is assumed that its area will be about one hundred thousand square kilometers. Sberbank's IT services, as well as its start-ups, will operate in the technology park. For example, its subsidiary Sbertech will move there. The cost of the technopark is estimated at 742.5 million rubles.
