At the moment in the list of the Russian department there are 53 links on Twitter leading to materials that contain signs of extremism, writes RBC. On May 28, the coordinator of Twitter’s public policy for Europe promised to prepare an “internal solution”, according to which some of this content will be removed in the near future.
The representative of Roskomnadzor Vadim Ampelyonsky said that this content contains child pornography, information about suicide and drugs. At the same time, Roskomnadzor has been cooperating with Twitter for a long time in the removal of certain types of content. But with the content of an extremist nature, the department and Twitter had different interpretations.
Recall that on September 1, 2015, the federal law “On Personal Data” enters into force in the Russian Federation, obliging foreign companies to keep information about Russians in Russia. Roskomnadzor expressed the hope that before September 1, Twitter will be able to voice its position on compliance with the law.
