On May 25, 76 Russian banks were connected to the National Payment Card System. The system itself began operating in the Russian Federation on April 1. The MasterCard payment system was the first to connect to the NSPK system, Visa is expected to connect in June.
“At present, much has been done in terms of preparing the issue of a national card, specifications have been developed and a prototype of a payment application has been made, which is being tested with suppliers of chips, plastics, etc. The specification of the design of the card will be completed soon so that we can transfer these specifications to plastic manufacturers and banks in 1-2 months so that they can start planning the development of a picture on the map, ”said Vladimir Komlev, head of the NPCS. According to him, NSPK can take 30-40% of the market of payment cards in Russia.
