An interesting result was the
study of the habits of American Internet users, conducted at the
Center for the Digital Future .
Experts have studied how people with different experiences work with e-mail. It turned out that experienced Internet users are not the most active users of e-mail at all. Quite the contrary, they check their email even less frequently than novice users.
At first glance, this is contrary to logic, because more advanced users always use any technology more actively than novices. But in the case of e-mail this rule does not work. First, e-mail is no longer “advanced technology”. Secondly, with professional experience comes the ability to more effectively manage information flows. After all, it is known that checking email as rarely as possible is the
basic rule of effective time management .
