Twitter Vice President goes to Moscow to meet with Roskomnadzor, the Ministry of Communications and the Internet Ombudsman
According to RBC, on May 28, Twitter’s Vice President Colin Crowell will hold several working meetings with representatives of Roskomnadzor, the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media (Rashid Ismailov), Internet ombudsman Dmitry Marinichev and State Duma deputy Leonid Levin. This information was confirmed by the press secretary of Roskomnadzor Vadim Ampelonsky.
The discussion will concern the federal laws “On bloggers” and “On personal data”. Sources of the publication also reported that the discussion will deal with the localization of personal data of the social network. Internet ombudsman Dmitry Marinichev said that he was going to support Twitter, and also propose opening a Russian office of the company:
“As an Internet ombudsman, I defend the interests of not only domestic companies in Russia, but also foreign ones”
Roskomnador said that he was going to discuss with the representative of Twitter those issues that had been repeatedly voiced : the implementation of the provisions of the law “On bloggers” and the issue of content removal violating Russian legislation. Ampelonsky did not specify that he would be able to attend the meeting from representatives of the department.
